College of Humanities
The College of Humanities provides education in human studies (literature, history, and philosophy), languages, and culture.
Korean Language £¦ Literature Department
  The Department of Korean Language & Literature was established with the founding of the College of Humanities in 1981. Its educational goal is to provide leaderships skills required in today's global world with a focus on students' excellent understanding of Korean language and culture.
English Language £¦ Literature Department
  The Department of English Language & Literature was established in 1981. Its educational goal is to enhance students' understanding of English Language & Literature as well as Western culture.
French Civilization £¦ Literature Department
  The Department of French Civilization & Literature was established in 1981. Its educational goal is to enhance students' understanding of Frenchphone culture and literature.
German Language £¦ Literature Department
  The Department of German Language & Literature was established in 1981. Its educational goal is to train students in German language and literature and to introduce them to Germanic culture and civilization.
Chinese £¦ Sinology Department
  The Department of Chinese & Sinology was established in 1980 as the Department of Chinese Language & Literature in the College of Education to further the understanding of Korea and China through Chinese. The Department provides access to, and understanding of, the high growth of the Chinese economy. In 1981, the Department came under the College of Humanities, and its name was changed to the Department of Chinese & Sinology.
Japanese Studies Department
  The Department of Japanese Studies was established in 1980 in the College of Education to provide an understanding of Japanese culture and Korean culture. In 1981, it came under the College of Humanities, and its name was changed to Japanese Language & Literature. In 1989, its name was further changed to Japanese Studies.
History Department
  The Department of History was established in 1972 as the Department of Social Studies Education in the College of Education. It came under the College of Humanities in 1980. Its education goal is to help students understand social, political, economic, intellectual, and cultural activities in the past that influence the present and the future.
Philosophy Department
  The Department of Philosophy was established in 1981. Its educational goal is to enhance students' ability to think analytically and ethically to provide solutions on the complicated social, political, problems of modern civil society.
Culture and Contents Department
  The Department of Culture and Contents was established in 2005. Its educational goal is to train students in Culture and Contents including storytelling, cultural theory and contents.
